Privacy Policy

Overview

EatNearMe (eatnearme.ai) is operated by Markco Labs LLC. This policy describes what information the service handles when you use it. The short version: we use your location only to find restaurants near you, we don’t sell personal information, and we don’t require accounts.

Your location

When you enter a zip code or city, or tap “Use my location,” your coordinates are rounded to roughly a one-mile area and used to request nearby restaurants. Coordinates are used to serve your request and for short-term response caching; we do not build location histories or profiles. Your browser will ask permission before sharing device location, and you can always type a zip code instead.

To save you typing, the search box may suggest your approximate city based on your IP address (via our content delivery network). This estimate is city-level, is only a suggestion you can type over, and is not stored.

Rate limiting

To prevent abuse, we count searches per visitor using a one-way hash of your IP address. These counters expire and are deleted automatically within 24 hours. The raw IP address is not stored by the application.

Restaurant data

Restaurant names, ratings, hours, photos, and addresses are provided by Google Maps Platform. Your use of that data through this site is also subject to Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Sharing and group rooms

If you share a pick, the shared link contains the restaurant’s details and the names of the restaurants that were on your wheel (so the recipient can watch the spin land). Short links store that same information on our servers for up to 30 days so the link works, then it is deleted automatically. If you start or join a group room, the room’s restaurant choices, votes, and the display name each participant types are stored while the room is active and deleted automatically within about three hours. Use a first name or nickname — rooms don’t need anything more.

Cookies, analytics, and ads

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage (pages viewed, picker modes used, general region). GA sets cookies and collects device information as described in Google’s policies; we do not send it your name or precise location. We may display advertising through Google AdSense in the future; if we do, AdSense may set cookies and, where permitted, show interest-based ads — you can control ad personalization at adssettings.google.com. The site also stores small preferences in your browser (sound on/off, your last search) which never leave your device.

Affiliate links

Ordering buttons (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub) currently link directly to those platforms’ search pages. In the future, some of these may become affiliate links, meaning we could earn a commission if you place an order after clicking, at no extra cost to you — and we’ll disclose that near the buttons. Either way, the delivery platform’s own privacy policy applies once you leave this site.

What we don’t do

No accounts, no sale of personal information, no sharing of personal information with third parties except the service providers described above, and no use of your data to train advertising profiles of our own.

Children

EatNearMe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
